AI READINESS EXPLAINED

What Is an AI Readiness Assessment?

An AI readiness assessment is a structured review of whether an organisation can successfully adopt AI, and where it should start. It covers the workflows worth automating, the data available to support them, the technical and security constraints in the way, the skills and ownership needed to run the result, and the expected return on each opportunity.

What we look at

What the Assessment Covers

AI Opportunity Assessment

AI Opportunity Assessment

Identify candidate workflows across the business, estimate the value of improving each, and rank them by return against effort rather than by enthusiasm.

Use Case Discovery

Use Case Discovery

Work through where AI genuinely applies and where conventional automation, better reporting or a process change would serve you better and cost less.

Data Readiness Assessment

Data Readiness Assessment

Review what data exists, its quality, consistency, accessibility and licensing. This is the most common blocker we find, and it frequently reshapes the roadmap.

Technical and Integration Review

Technical and Integration Review

Assess the systems AI would need to reach, what integration would involve, and any constraints around hosting, latency or where data is allowed to sit.

AI Gap Analysis

AI Gap Analysis

Compare where you are against what the shortlisted use cases require, across data, systems, skills and process, and set out what has to close first.

Capability and Ownership Review

Capability and Ownership Review

Establish who would run the result. AI systems need monitoring and retraining, and an unowned system degrades quietly until someone notices it’s wrong.

Governance and Responsible AI

Governance and Responsible AI

Review the approvals, controls, audit requirements and human oversight your context demands, including obligations under GDPR, sector rules and the EU AI Act.

Build, Buy or Wait

Build, Buy or Wait

For each opportunity, assess whether a commercial product covers it, whether custom development is justified, or whether the sensible answer is to wait.

ROI and Business Case

ROI and Business Case

Quantify expected returns for the shortlisted use cases, with the assumptions stated so your finance team can challenge them properly.

Our process

How We Run the Engagement

1
Agree scope and access

Agree scope and access

Confirm which business areas are in scope, who we will speak to, and what data and system access is needed.

2
Discovery

Discovery

Interviews, data review and systems review, run in parallel and structured to take as little of your team’s time as possible.

3
Analysis

Analysis

Build the opportunity map, test the assumptions that matter, and develop the business case.

4
Review with stakeholders

Review with stakeholders

Share draft findings before the final readout, so nothing lands as a surprise and the prioritisation reflects what the business will actually support.

5
Final readout

Final readout

Present the roadmap and recommended first step to the decision makers, with the full documentation handed over.

6
Move to delivery, or not

Move to delivery, or not

Follow the first project with us, use the roadmap for your team or to brief another supplier. It’s yours.

Flexible Ways to Work

Choose The Right Assessment Engagement

Focused Assessment

A short, fixed price engagement covering one business area or a defined set of workflows. Suits organisations with a specific question rather than a broad mandate.

Enterprise AI Readiness Assessment

A wider engagement across multiple functions, with stakeholder interviews, governance review and a phased roadmap covering the whole programme.

Assessment Plus Proof of Concept

The assessment followed immediately by a cheap feasibility test of the top recommendation, so you leave with evidence rather than only a plan.

AI Strategy and Transformation Advisory

Advisory with your team during roadmap delivery, including vendor selection and decisions.

Team Enablement

Working sessions for the teams who will own and use the result, so capability stays with you rather than leaving with the supplier.

FAQs

AI Readiness Assessment FAQs

It is a structured review of whether your organisation can successfully adopt AI and where to start. It covers candidate workflows, data availability and quality, technical constraints, governance requirements, ownership and expected returns, ending in a prioritised roadmap.
A focused assessment covering one business area usually takes a small number of weeks. A wider enterprise engagement takes longer, mostly because stakeholder availability sets the pace rather than the analysis itself.
Access to the people who own the relevant workflows, systems and data, plus sample data and documentation. We keep the time commitment from your team deliberately small and work around interview availability.
Readiness depends on completeness, consistency, accessibility and whether you are permitted to use the data. Most organisations have less usable data than they assume, which is why this is assessed early rather than discovered during a build.
You get a clear account of what needs to change and in what order, which is more valuable than a roadmap you cannot execute. Occasionally the finding is that conventional automation or better reporting solves the problem instead.
No. The roadmap and all documentation are yours. Take it to your own team, brief another supplier, or proceed with us. We would rather be chosen on the strength of the assessment than through obligation.
Strategy work tends to produce direction. This produces a specific, costed sequence of work grounded in what your data and systems actually support, written by people who build these systems rather than only advise on them.
